Captain Jason Chambers is making a major statement about his new chief stew, Daisy Kelliher. The Below Deck Down Under captain had previously worked alongside chief stew, Aesha Scott, in BDDU Seasons 1 and 2, and chief stew, Lara Rigby, during BDDU Season 3. But, he was super happy to work with the Below Deck Sailing Yacht alum, who brought her passion to the franchise.
Jason spoke with Us Weekly in September, where he addressed Aesha moving on to Below Deck Mediterranean, while gaining a new chief stew in Daisy. “It’s not uncommon for stewardesses to move on,” he explained. “Things change and you have to adapt to it. Aesha had an opportunity to rewrite the story she started in, so I definitely can understand.”
“And I’m happy to have Daisy come back,” he continued. “She works well, she works hard.”
Jason even teased what’s to come from Daisy’s work ethic during BDDU Season 4. “She’s authentic, and she really cares about the job,” he admitted. “Daisy brought her A-game and she didn’t hold anything back. When she wants something, she gets it.”
Daisy Kelliher admits she was “nervous” to work alongside Captain Jason Chambers
Daisy, however, admitted to the publication that she was nervous to switch from working on a sailing yacht in BDSY to working on a motor yacht in BDDU Season 4. But, she was up for the challenge.
“I got very familiar with Parsifal and Captain Glenn Shephard and to what sailing was all about,” she explained. “[Suddenly, on Below Deck Down Under it was like], ‘Oh, can I do this? What’s it going to be like? Am I going to clash with the captain? Can I do a motorboat? I think it was good for me to change and be given a new challenge, but I was certainly very, very nervous.”

She further revealed that she did not reach out to anyone before joining the BDDU Season 4 crew. “I wanted to have my own experience,” she said. “I’m human, like everybody else, and I didn’t want my experience to be influenced by other opinions…I’d watched the season, so I had an idea of what I was walking into. I knew Jason was going to be there, and that’s all I really needed to know.”
