Steven McBee Jr. and Calah Jackson seemingly ended things for good on Season 2, Episode 2 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys — however, after Episode 3, there may be reason to believe the couple isn’t quite done with each other.

Fans will have to stay tuned to see everything that goes down between the two, but in a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Steven revealed that he and Calah are no longer together.

“We still talk from time to time … [but] I would say things are not great at this point,” he said after confirming their split.

What’s more, when asked if there’s any possibility for a reconciliation, Steven said, “That door’s closed.”

“I think there’s just been so much damage done that at some point, you just have to say, ‘Hey, I care about you as a person and we had a great run and a great relationship at times, but there’s just too many things to try and undo here; too much damage done to try and patch up and repair,'” he continued. “I’d rather start fresh with someone new than go back trying to fix everything.”

Is Steven McBee Jr. dating anyone today?

Steven told The Daily Dish that he’s dated “a couple girls” over the last few months, but the relationships were “not anything serious.”

One possible reason for the lack of progression in these relationships? The fact that Steven is apparently still paying for the Dallas apartment that Calah lives in.

“I did let [the girls he dated] know, like, ‘Hey, there’s still some communication with my ex. We have a reality TV show that we’re gonna be on together, and I’m still paying for [her] car and apartment and things like that,'” Steven explained. “It definitely is a red flag and I see that on their face the minute I tell them that. And I understand it.”

Why Steven McBee Jr. is still paying for Calah’s apartment in Dallas

As Steven told The Daily Dish, “In all honesty, we have such a tight-knit close family and I’ve always felt so supported by my parents, that there’s a little bit of guilt whenever I’m with someone or I’m around someone that didn’t have that same sort of support.”

“I almost feel an obligation of just saying, I have such a good family — I have this super supportive family and they would do anything and everything on Earth for me — and while Calah is close with her family, she doesn’t necessarily have that sort of support. And so I almost felt like I owed that to her,” Steven added. “I wanted to take care of her ’cause I do care about her as a person even if we’re not together. I wanna make sure that even after our breakup, she’s still set up for success.”

That’s not to say that he’s going to support her indefinitely, though. In fact, “That’s gonna end over the next couple months, and then we’ll end up having a clean break,” he said. “It’s gonna be good for both of us; a clean break where we can each go our separate ways and there’s no baggage.”

Steven McBee Jr. and Calah Jackson’s relationship drama, explained

During Season 2, Episode 3 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, Calah left Dallas and returned to Steven’s house in Gallatin. “I mean what can I say,” Steven said in a confessional. “It’s hard to quit Calah. I am a weak man.”

When Calah arrived back at Steven’s house, he said he “missed” her, which surprised the Dallas native. “You missed me?” she responded.

“I don’t really know where Calah and I are,” Steven confessed in an episode interview. “I know that we’re not dating.”

“Calah and I have been so volatile throughout our relationship, hell, I think we’re on our 15th or 16th time of breaking up and getting back together,” he continued. “And that’s not hyperbole, that is fact.”

But while Calah returned to Steven’s ranch on the episode, she noted that she still planned on getting her own apartment in Dallas — and that she’d need Steven’s help to do so.

“Everybody I know that has an apartment has their parent as a cosigner,” Calah told Steven before explaining in a confessional that he had an obligation to help since she had “uprooted” her life for him by moving to Gallatin.

How the McBee family feels about Calah Jackson and Steven McBee Jr.’s relationship

Later on Episode 2, the McBee family was shocked to see Calah at Kacie Adkinson and Cole McBee’s sex reveal party for their baby. When Calah walked into the party with Steven McBee, the room went completely silent.

“He did it, I can’t believe it,” Cole said in a confessional. “So embarrassing.”

Kacie was also confused, stating that Steven didn’t tell the family she was coming. The McBee boys’ mom, Kristi McBee, had a similar reaction.

“I am surprised to see Calah at the gender reveal. I mean we thought they were broken up. We know how she feels about [the family], and so it’s hard to pretend like we don’t know,” the business owner told cameras.

Inside Calah Jackson’s relationship with the McBee family

On Season 1, Calah struggled to get along with her boyfriend’s dad, Steven McBee Sr., as well as family members, Cole McBee and Jesse McBee. The couple actually broke up, but reconciled before they started filming for Season 2.

“Steven and I have been through a lot of ups and downs,” Calah said on the Season 2 premiere. “We’ve gone through a lot together, but we love each other, and the only times we’ve really had major issues is when other people get involved.”

Calah’s relationship with the McBee family has only worsened on Season 2, specifically with Cole’s girlfriend, Kacie Adkinson, and Jesse’s fiancé, Alli Ventresca. Calah cut off contact with Kacie, Alli, and the rest of the McBee family because they apparently never offered condolences after her sister, Mallory, passed away. Calah’s conflict with Steven McBee Jr.’s family ultimately led to the end of their relationship on Episode 2.

“There are still issues between you and my family, your perception of my family,” Steven Jr. told Calah during their relationship-ending argument. “In every single conversation about anything to do with my family, you are the most pessimistic person to ever speak about my family. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard you utter a single positive statement about anyone in my family.”
