Police in California arrested a man on Tuesday for killing a couple at their home days earlier.
Los Angeles police said they believe Raymond Boodarian, 22, killed “American Idol” music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Tom DeLuca, at their Encino home on Thursday during an attempted burglary. Boodarian apparently entered the residence via an unlocked door before the couple returned home, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Police said a deadly altercation occurred when Kaye and DeLuca, both 70, caught Boodarian. The same day, police were called to the home after neighbors spotted an armed suspect jumping a fence. Not only did responding officers find no evidence of a break-in, but a helicopter also flew over the residence and did not locate a suspect.
However, officers performing a welfare check on Monday discovered Kaye and DeLuca deceased. Sources told The Los Angeles Times that they were shot multiple times and were located in separate rooms.
According to TMZ, officers smashed a window and forced entry into Kaye and DeLuca’s home after spotting blood outside. The couple — which suffered gunshot wounds to the head — died four days before they were found.
TMZ reported that surveillance footage showed Boodarian entering the victims’ home 30 minutes before they arrived. Police said nothing was taken from the home.
Meanwhile, sources told The Los Angeles Times that the FBI and local police apprehended Boodarian without incident on Tuesday. The sources said Kaye and DeLuca’s slayings may be random, but detectives are investigating whether he was involved in any prior incidents at the residence.
It is currently unclear what criminal charges Boodarian is facing.
