Suspect in Double Murder at Tennessee Plastics Plant Found Dead After 6-Hour Standoff – Crime Online

Two employees of a Tennessee plastics plant, including the company vice president, were shot and killed Monday morning by a man who was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The medical examiner has not yet confirmed the killer’s identity, but the victims were identified as Ivan Aldergot, vice president of Barku Plastics in Cleveland — about 30 miles north of Chattanooga — and Tobias Gleinig, an employee of the company, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Barku Plastics is a subsidiary of the German manufacturer Barku Kunststofftechnik GmbH, which has been in operation since 1977. The Tennessee plant opened in 2003. According to his LinkedIn page, Aldergot had been with the company for nearly five years.

Cleveland police said they were called to the scene shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Monday with a report of gunfire. They found Aldergot and Gleinig dead when they arrived, and identified a possible suspect who fled in a vehicle, the Cleveland Daily Banner reported. Police said they located that vehicle at a home outside Cleveland city limits in Bradley County, and a SWAT team was dispatched to the scene.

After a six-hour standoff, police sent robotic vehicles into the home — which belonged to the suspect — and found him dead inside.

Further information is pending.
