The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast is sounding off on what some have perceived as a shady move by Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke’s former assistant, Avi Gabay.
The Season 15 premiere featured the revelation that Sutton had let go of her beloved assistant (more on that below), which shocked viewers and castmates alike. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, however, contained more drama when producers reminded Sutton that Avi attended the red-carpet premiere for a film starring and executive produced by Garcelle.
RHOBH friend Jennifer Tilly, who remains close-knit to both Garcelle and Sutton after their Season 14 fallout, said even she was “a little taken aback” over Avi’s attendance. As she put it, “You know, obviously, Garcelle can invite whoever she wants to her premiere, but it did seem a little bit deliberate.”
Meanwhile, Kyle Richards referenced a photo of Avi and Garcelle all smiles on the red carpet. “Well, it seemed like there was an absolute agenda,” Kyle admitted to RHOBH newcomer Amanda Frances on the After Show. “They both, Garcelle and Avi, knew that taking that photo together, it would go everywhere, and it would spark questions and commentary and all of that. So, you know what? They were successful.”
As for Sutton, responding tongue in cheek, “I had no idea that Garcelle liked Avi so much, but apparently they have a good, long-term friendship, so…”
Why did Sutton Stracke fire her assistant Avi Gabay?
“Avi and I had a great run, but things come to an end,” Sutton explained on the RHOBH After Show. “It was just a business decision for me. I was coming to a point in my life where no children were going to be in my house; I didn’t have a storefront that needed tending to. So, it was just time. And you know, we had run our course … I just didn’t need anybody in my house all the time.”
Sutton couldn’t understand why some took “such an issue” with Avi’s firing, which occurred two years after she introduced him in the Season 13 premiere. After all, she’d already explained to Kyle and Erika Jayne on the Dec. 4 episode of RHOBH that parting ways with Avi was a drama-free instance.

Still, Kyle found herself “surprised” by the move, given that Sutton and Ari were once quite the dynamic duo. Bozoma Saint John, too, said Avi seemed to be “such an integral part of her day-to-day life.”
“I was just shocked, that something crazy-detrimental had to have happened,” said Bozoma.
All said, Jennifer, Kathy Hilton, and Rachel Zoe were sympathetic to Sutton’s business decision.

Unfortunately, Sutton and Avi are no longer on speaking terms, she explained on the RHOBH After Show. “I think I was surprised that, in letting him go, that it was going to terminate the friendship as well,” Sutton confessed. “That was a surprise for me.”
