Teddi Mellencamp seemed to address a reported attempted burglary at her home in Los Angeles in a statement she posted to Instagram this week. The statement was shared ahead of TMZ reporting of the alleged incident on July 22.
Per the outlet, Teddi and her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, were reportedly home at the time and after the security system went off, they called authorities in regards to the attempted burglary. The suspects were already gone by the time authorities arrived on Monday night (July 21).
Teddi appeared to address the incident on Instagram Stories, without going into details, in the hours prior to the the outlet reporting on it. In a social media post, shared on late Monday (the same day of the alleged incident), The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum wrote, “Love you all. Thanks for checking in. I am not texting back but I am ok. Resting.”

Teddi has been open about this challenging time in her life. In fact, in a recent interview with Glamour, Teddi opened up to Kyle Richards, who interviewed her for the publication, about her reaction to learning the skin cancer had metastasized to her brain and lungs despite regular checkups.

“When you go to a doctor, you just assume that’s it. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do,” she said in the interview of learning that the cancer has spread to her brain and lungs. “At first, I didn’t even really do the research on melanoma because I didn’t want to know all of the bad things. But there’s a difference between self-diagnosing yourself and being an advocate for your own health.”
She added, “I never really thought about it because I was like, ‘I go to a doctor every three months. Why wouldn’t they get me checked?’ My highest melanoma on my shoulder was stage one. When I finally followed up on it, they were like, ‘We didn’t do the scans, because you didn’t have anything above a stage one on your body.’ But look what happened.”

Teddi has been getting immunotherapy treatment and has previously shared that she will need to continue with the treatment plan for about the next two years. In an Instagram Stories post back in late June, she revealed an update on her health and where she currently stands in her cancer journey.

When an Instagram follower asked if she’s “in remission yet,” Teddi responded, “Not yet but hopefully some day soon.”
