The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Teddi Mellencamp has reached a major milestone in her ongoing cancer journey, and thankfully, she’s had Kyle Richards to help see her through.
On Feb. 9, Teddi took to Instagram to mark the one-year milestone of her life-saving brain surgery amid her arduous fight against Stage 4 cancer. As for Kyle, she couldn’t believe how much time had passed and how far her BFF had come.
“I can’t believe it’s been a year,” Kyle wrote in the comments section. “You’re so strong, Ted. Even the days you feel like you aren’t. You’re an inspiration to many. Love you.”
Teddi responded with “Love you” to Kyle, but not before reflecting on the invasive 2024 procedure. She described going to the emergency room for what she believed were migraines, “and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain.”
Despite speculation suggesting otherwise, the RHOBH alum reported in October that there was “no detectable cancer,” though she’s still living with the challenging side effects of ongoing immunotherapy treatment, which she continues to be candid about on social media. All said, in her anniversary post, she encouraged followers to “get checked,” as Kyle insisted Teddi do before receiving an initial melanoma (skin cancer) diagnosis in 2022.
“I have a lot of anxiety surrounding today, but also a lot of gratitude,” Teddi continued. “Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me.”
Many Bravolebs flocked to Teddi’s post with words of love and support, including Below Deck Mediterranean’s Captain Sandy Yawn, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Lisa Hochstein, and The Real Housewives of Dubai’s Chanel Ayan.
What’s the latest in Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer battle?
Teddi reported having no cancer in October; however, she continues to share “the good, the bad, and the ugly” with her followers as her immunotherapy continues.
Recently, the mother of three and stepmom of one had to clear up comments made by her rock star dad, John Mellencamp, that she was “suffering” with brain cancer still. The “Jack & Diane” singer’s comments, as pointed out by The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge on her and Teddi’s Two Ts in a Pod podcast, led some to suspect Teddi’s cancer had made a turn for the worse.

As Teddi clarified, “You know, I think when he said the word ‘suffering,’ he meant like how I’m mentally doing versus how I’m physically doing.”
She said there was still “no trace of cancer,” but emphasized that she wasn’t out of the woods just yet. “I’m still considered Stage 4, and I’m still in immunotherapy,” she continued. “So, essentially, nothing’s changed other than I still don’t feel great. I would hope that I would be feeling better by now, but I really don’t.”
Teddi Mellencamp praises Kyle Richards for her unending support
Kyle’s public support of Teddi is just the latest of her many words of affirmation over the years. For Kyle’s birthday, Teddi said in a Jan. 11 Instagram post, “They say there’s a reason for everybody who comes into your life. For [Kyle], there’s more than a reason; there’s a purpose.”

“From the moment we met on the show, there was a natural connection. But now, after everything, there’s a sisterhood that can’t be broken,” Teddi continued about the mom of four. “I’m so grateful for the support, encouragement, and love that you bring no matter what life throws our way.”
Teddi added, “I probably wouldn’t be writing this if it weren’t for you.”
