CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a minor on suspicion of killing her mother and stepfather, whose bodies were discovered by the suspect’s younger sister.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on the morning of Feb. 20, where they located 45-year-old James Brock and 41-year-old Kristin Brock deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. In a press conference, officials said a 6-year-old girl who was home at the time made the initial discovery and had her sister, 17-year-old Sarah Patrick, call 911.
Several months later, on July 8, the sheriff’s office announced Patrick’s arrest in connection with the shooting deaths of her mother and stepfather. Authorities said, “While the case has not remained in the public spotlight in recent months, this investigation has never gone silent.”
Investigators identified Patrick after they “pursued every lead, sifted through mountains of physical and digital evidence, conducted countless interviews, and collaborated with agencies such as the FBI, the GBI Crime Lab, and private forensic laboratories.”
Patrick faces two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office said, “Our prayers remain with the families of James and Kristin Brock and especially with their young daughter, who was at home during this horrific crime. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the community that rallied for justice and never gave up hope.”
