Teen Found Dismembered & Doused in Lye After Phone is Traced to Sex Offender’s Home – Crime Online

The case of a slain Virginia boy remains open a year after he was found dismembered in a shallow grave.

Cion Carroll, 17, was found dead in Kenbridge in November 2022, more than a week after he was last seen at his grandmother’s home in the same city. WRIC reported that Virginia State Police last spoke publicly about the case in May, disclosing that their investigation remained active even though no arrests have been made.

According to previous reports, Carroll’s partially-buried body was dismembered and doused with lye. His mother told the media that her son had two phones but both were off — though they allegedly alerted police to his last known location.

“His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and spine. He was dismembered. Then lye was poured on him and cement. And he was buried in a shallow grave,” Carroll’s mother revealed to WRIC last year.

According to WRIC, Carroll’s family accused police of not searching a home near Kenbridge where the teen was apparently last seen. His cell phone allegedly last pinged near the home of a known sex offender.

“It hurts,” Carroll’s grandfather told the news outlet. “How can you do that to a person?”
