A Tennessee father has been arrested after he dangled his infant daughter over an apartment balcony railing and threatened to shoot the child’s mother.
Duriell Williams, 21, has been jailed on aggravated domestic violence and child endangerment charges, WMC reported.
The incident took place on June 6, but he wasn’t arrested until Thursday.
An arrest affidavit says the mother told Memphis police that Williams came to visit her and her 5-month-old daughter that day and asked her first to “come outside and talk” then alter to “see and hold their child.”
When the mother agreed, Williams allegedly took the child by the feet and held her over the second story balcony railing, threatening to throw her to the ground. The mother grabbed the baby away from him and retreated into the apartment, whereupon Williams pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot up the apartment.
With several more children in the apartment, the mother complied with the gunman’s order and opened the door. Williams pointed his gun at her and asked “if she was ready to die.”
He reportedly fled the scene when he notice neighbors were watching the incident unfold.
Williams was preiously indicted for attempted aggravated assault in May 2024. He was arrested three months later and then released on a $15,000 bond.
He’s currently being held on a $100,500 bond. He is due in court on Monday.
