ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas (TCD) — A 31-year-old man stands accused of stabbing a woman and rolling her in plastic while he was wearing an ankle monitor last week.
On Friday, Dec. 1, at approximately 4 p.m., Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 4000 block of Eichman Road to a report of an injured woman. Once there, deputies located a female victim and concluded she had “been beaten, stabbed, and had her throat slashed.”
Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward said the woman was rolled up in plastic and “left for dead” in a pasture.
Investigators allege Roger Gonzalez attacked the woman, and they obtained an arrest warrant against him on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The sheriff’s office arrested Gonzalez in his home on Lytle Street in San Antonio.
Soward told KENS-TV the suspect and victim were in a relationship.
Gonzalez’s bond was initially set at $40,000, but a judge increased it to $275,000.
The sheriff’s office said the victim is in critical but stable condition at a San Antonio hospital.
