ITALY, Texas (TCD) —Â A 25-year-old woman is facing several capital murder charges after she allegedly stabbed her five children, killing three of them, during an unannounced CPS visit.
According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, March 3, an official from Texas Child Protective Services went to a home on the 300 block of Harris Street in Italy for a home visit. The case officer “made the decision to remove the children from the home,” and called 911 at 4 p.m. An Italy Police Department officer arrived at the scene five minutes later and located the wounded children.
A 6-year-old boy and a set of 5-year-old twins, one male and one female, were dead inside the home, while a 4-year-old boy and 13-month-old girl were seriously injured. One of the victims who survived the stabbing was taken to Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth and the other was taken to Children’s Hospital Dallas.
Deputies from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office arrested the children’s mother, Shamaiya Deyonshana Hall, on charges of capital murder.
According to WFAA-TV, the CPS caseworker reportedly suspected Hall was visiting her children while unsupervised, which prompted the unannounced visit. A family member reportedly had guardianship of the kids.
Records show Hall is being held on $6 million bond.
KDFW-TV reports Hall’s twin sister, Troyshaye Hall, was also charged with capital murder in June 2021 for stabbing and killing her own daughter. In October 2021, she was ruled incompetent to stand trial and is being held at a mental health facility.
