Texas Mother Missing for Weeks, Dog & Belongings Left Behind – Crime Online

Police in Texas are searching for a Wise County woman who hasn’t been seen in weeks.

According to police, family members reported 48-year-old Monica Sanford missing on August 25, a day after she was last seen.

FOX 4 reports that the Wise County Sheriff’s Office stated that foul play is likely involved in Sanford’s disappearance.

Police said Sanford had been staying in a trailer off Cuba Road in Bridgeport, when her car was found “in the back of the property.”

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Chief Deputy Eric Debus said authorities became concerned when they noticed Sanford left her belongings behind, including her dog.

“This dog is her world…like her kids are all adults, all grown, and she is not married, that’s her dog,” her sister, Darla Hastings, said.

“That is her. She sleeps with that dog. That dog is everything to her. And my sister would never, never leave that dog. She would definitely leave her car before she’d leave that dog.”

Hastings added that she doesn’t believe her sister is still alive.

“I don’t think my sister is alive anymore, because if she was, she would not ignore us. She wouldn’t not reach out. She would not miss Destiny’s birthday.”

Police said they have a person of interest in custody on unrelated charges.

“I was told that her and her ex-boyfriend left at 10 p.m. on the 23rd and that only the ex-boyfriend returned the next day,” Hastings told FOX 4.

According to Hastings, Texas EquuSearch is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to Sanford’s whereabouts.

“I don’t know where she is, but wherever she’s at right now, she doesn’t deserve to be there,” Hastings said. “She really doesn’t deserve to be there. She deserves to be with my mother.”

Anyone with information on her whereabout is urged to contact the Texas Crime Stoppers tip line at 800-643-TIPS (8477), or online at www.p3tips.com.
