Texas Woman Charged With Husband’s Murder, Initially Thought to Be Suicide – Crime Online

A 31-year-old Texas woman has been charged with the murder of her husband following a 9-month investigation.

Lonnie Moore’s death was initially thought to be a suicide, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said, but detectives launched a thorough investigation, uncovering evidence “that contradicted the initial assessment of a self-inflicted wound.”

The 33-year-old’s body was found in a vehicle on the side of the road — with the engine still running — at about 9 a.m. on June 15, 2025. He had a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Eventually, they determined that Breyanai Moore was a suspect in her husband’s death. She was arrested last week and is bein gheld without bond.

Court documents say that the Moores had been separated for two years and shared a 5-year-old daughter, KTRK reported. She told detectives she had been home all night with her daughter and had told her husband via text she planned to file for divorce.

But surveillance cameras captured a woman who looked like Breyanai Moore near the entrance of her husband’s neighborhood that morning. Phone records also showed multiple calls between his phone and a prepaid phone that morning — a phone that had been bought by a friend of Breyanai Moore.

The friend reportedly told investigators that Moore had admitted using the phone to lure her husband into picking her up. She said she climbed into the back seat behind him and shot him when he tried to grab something away from her.

Breyanai Moore’s mother later identified the woman in the neighborhood video as her daughter. The mother also told investigators that her daughter hated her husband and often wished him harm. After his death, she lost weight and cried frequently, the mother said.
