Texas woman charged with murder after allegedly beating boyfriend with hammer

CHINA GROVE, Texas (TCN) — A 32-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the beating death of her boyfriend.

WOIA reports Abigail Molina was charged with murder, property theft, and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair in connection with the death of 64-year-old Gilbert Parker.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, Parker was found in a toolshed near the Old Path Baptist Church on Jan. 18, partially naked and covered in what appeared to be dried blood. There were also bloodstains in the shed, as well as on clothing and two recliners.

Investigators say Parker was unable to communicate in sentences and was going in and out of consciousness when asked what had happened to him. He was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries on Jan. 20.

Parker did maintenance at the Old Path Baptist Church and lived in his truck and the toolshed, People reports. An investigation revealed that his wallet, cellphone, and truck were missing. Church parishioners had reportedly gone into the crime scene and thrown away drug evidence and some of Parker’s belongings, according to the affidavit obtained by WOIA.

One of Parker’s friends reportedly told investigators that Parker and Molina had recently been in a relationship and that Parker was reportedly “more involved and possessive.” The friend said the two seemed to be “in different places in the relationship,” according to People.

An autopsy found Parker had lacerations caused by a blunt stabbing tool, like the claw end of a hammer, as well as a fractured skull that caused bleeding within the brain, according to WOIA.

On Jan. 19, Molina allegedly called police and told them she had nothing to hide. She said she acted in self-defense in the altercation that sent Parker to the hospital, per the affidavit.

On Feb. 2, Parker’s friend called police and told them he got an anonymous tip that the weapon allegedly used in the attack was a construction hammer with a missing claw that was thrown into a drainage culvert in San Antonio, Texas, People reports. The hammer was reportedly found near Molina’s home, and the missing claw was consistent with the lacerations on Parker’s head.

Molina’s ex-boyfriend told police he talked to her on Jan. 15 and she allegedly told him, “I f—ed up.” The ex-boyfriend told police Molina said Parker hit her and she allegedly blacked out and hit him repeatedly with the hammer while he cried and asked for help, People reports.

According to WOIA, Molina allegedly admitted to him that she washed blood from her clothes. KSAT reports the ex-boyfriend says he broke up with Molina after she allegedly assaulted him.

WOIA reports Molina allegedly took Parker’s truck to get washed and detailed. She attempted to sand and paint it herself before selling it to a Houston, Texas-based “Cars for Cash” business for $300, per WOIA.

During interviews with authorities, Molina allegedly appeared overly nervous and gave vague answers about her relationship with Parker and when she had last seen him, and she allegedly would not let investigators look at her cellphone.

Molina was charged Feb. 5 and booked into the Bexar County Jail, according to People.
