It’s been a tough few years for Tom Schwartz, both personally and professionally. On The Valley Season 3 premiere, the new cast member opened up about his life after his divorce from Vanderpump Rules’ Katie Maloney the closing of his his bar, Schwartz and Sandy’s.
“Man, my life kinda fell apart at the seams,” he admitted during his first confessional interview on the Season 3 premiere. “Divorced. I was hemorrhaging money.”
Schwartz explained that it all started when he and Katie parted ways in 2022, after twelve years together and five of those married. That was followed up by the December 2024 shuttering of the bar he co-owned with Vanderpump Rules alum Tom Sandoval. Schwartz revealed in Oct. 2025 that he lost between $600,000 and $700,000 by the time the bar closed.
“I’m happy it happened on some level,” Schwartz told Zack Wickham during the April 1 episode. “I know that’s f—ked up because I lost a lot of money, but it just made me a better person. It gave me grit.”
“You know how sometimes when you’re depressed you put on weight? After the bar closed, I think I put on a happy 15 pounds,” he laughed to Zack.
Zack agreed that this was a huge weight off Tom’s shoulders. “You needed a break. It just wore you down,” he said. “You got stuck in a really bad situation. Now you’re to the point where you’re ready to thrive instead of just survive.
“I was floundering, man,” Tom replied. “I lost all my harmony and my zest. I lost my Schwartz,” he said before adding, “I got it back.”

To producers, Schwartz revealed that he is currently in a much better place. “I feel like a brand new me. I don’t know exactly how to articulate it, but I just feel I got my sparkle. Can I steal Brittany [Cartwright]’s line? I feel like I got my sparkle back.”
Where do Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval stand today?
Although their failed bar Schwartz and Sandy’s was part of a comedic In Memoriam segment at The Bravos awards during BravoCon 2025’s, Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval recently made strides in repairing their strained friendship. Sandoval’s girlfriend, Victoria Lee Robinson, posted a series of pics and videos of the Toms hanging out at a Foo Fighters concert in late January.
“Grateful for this life & these people,” she wrote over one photo. “Drunkie brother nightcap,” she commented on another.
Aside from their failed business, more tension between the Toms stemmbed from Sandoval’s shocking breakup with Ariana Madix during Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules. When asked during a June 2025 Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen appearance about their friendship, Schwartz answered, “I think we’re in a better place now. I was very resentful for a long time, but I’ve let that go, and I feel like we’re in a good place again.”

Tom has also reached a better place with Katie since their divorce—including co-parenting their dogs Butter and Gordo—and in October 2025, he revealed he was dating again. He publicly confirmed his relationship with Kiana Carroll in November during BravoCon 2025, where he called her “dreamy.”

“She’s the love of my life,” he said at the time. “She’s amazing… I’m happy. I feel like I’m under a love spell right now, and it’s a great place to be. I’ve got the rose-colored lenses on.”
In late February, an Instagram update confirmed the couple was still going strong.
