Tommy Feight Speaks out on Mercedeh Javid Divorce

Tommy Feight admits there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding his future with his estranged wife, Mercedeh Javid.

How to Watch

The Valley Persian Style premieres Thursday, January 8 at 9/8c on Bravo. Episodes stream next day on Peacock.

Nearly two months into his divorce proceedings, The Valley: Persian Style dad opened up about the struggles he’s faced amid his family’s “new normal.” Although Tommy suggested he hadn’t closed the door on a potential reconciliation with Mercedeh, he said he’s mainly focused on their 6-year-old son, Shams.

Tommy Feight sheds light on his separation from Mercedeh Javid

“Maybe one day we’ll come back to each other,” he said in the December 15 episode of From Till Dirt with MJ and Tommy. “But if we don’t, I know now that… All I’m worried about now is that Shams is gonna be all right, that this isn’t gonna have a long-term effect on him… He has two parents that love him very, very much and would do anything for him. That’s never gonna change. Nothing will ever be able to come between me and him. As long as I have that, I’ll have everything.”

Tommy told listeners that he’s had a hard time navigating his marital split, but has made an effort to remain optimistic and thankful during the transition.

“I’m healthy. Shams is healthy. My wife… MJ is healthy,” he said. “We got a roof over our head. We got food in our mouths. There’s a lot more people, especially this time of year, that got it a lot f—kin’ worse than me. I try to keep that s–t into perspective.”

Tommy Feight questions how his marital split will affect his son, Shams

Tommy confessed it was “easy” to get into a negative mindset, but refused to let his son see him “down.” He also expressed a very warranted concern about the way Shams would be affected by the divorce, as Tommy had firsthand experience of living in a broken household.

“Going through this, I’m like, ‘Oh man, I’m a big failure, dude. [Shams] is gonna go through the same f–kin’ thing I went through,’” he explained. “I don’t want him turning out like me. It’s difficult. I just like having him close. It’s so hard, especially these last couple of weeks, as the new normal becomes normal.”

Mercedeh Javid reveals she & Tommy Feight are no longer living together

Mercedeh filed for divorce from Tommy back in October after seven years of marriage. She has since moved out of the home she and Tommy purchased when Shams was still an infant. The Shahs of Sunset alum touched on her living situation during a November appearance on Jeff Lewis’ SiriusXM radio show, confirming that Tommy has also left their longtime family home.

“It’s very humbling to move from a place where your child was 6 months old until he’s 6-and-a-half years old,” she said. “[Tommy]  moved into pretty much the same cul-de-sac. The difference between his place and my place is less than a minute driving.”

Tommy Feight opens up about his coparenting journey

But despite his proximity to his ex, Tommy said the co-parenting arrangement was far from ideal, as there are some days “he doesn’t see” his son.

“It’s been difficult. But it is what it is,” he said. “I want [Shams] to know that life throws punches at you sometimes, man. And you just got to react, you know? You have to react and do the best you can. Whatever’s thrown at you.”

Tommy said he’s been “bouncing back [his] whole life, and was confident he would get through whatever the future has in store.

“I’ll come out better for it, I’m sure. I hope [Shams] does, too,” he continued. “And listen, I hope my wife does, too. I hope she finds happiness, and she finds, you know, things that…I hope that this is worth it for her.”
