Toya Bush-Harris intended for her “skip work day” party on Married to Medicine to be “all about serenity” — but the backyard bash quickly went left, resulting in her more or less kicking Drs. Heavenly Kimes and Mimi Sanders out of her new home.

The trio’s intense dustup took place during Season 12, Episode 4, after the ladies weighed in on Toya blasting her husband, Dr. Eugene Harris, in front of their guests (more on that below).  As Toya revealed in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, she still has no regrets about how she handled the situation with her castmates.

“Yes, absolutely, I stand by kicking anyone out of my party that’s not for my family or my relationship with my husband,” she declared. “I mean that’s my home, you know what I’m saying? Now, if you were at a party, I’ll just go the other way. But it’s in my home; I don’t need the energy.”

Where Toya Bush-Harris and Dr. Heavenly Kimes stand today

Not much has changed between Toya and Heavenly, specifically, since filming wrapped.

“Today, [we’re in] the same place we’ve been all of our life,” Toya told The Daily Dish. “We have an up-and-down, love-hate relationship, but I think we have an appreciation for what each individual brings to our friend group.”

As for what Dr. Heavenly brings to the group, Toya elaborated, “She keeps us on our toes.”

As for what sparked the drama between Toya and Dr. Eugene, she’d grown frustrated that he wasn’t paying attention while she was explaining a poolside party game.

When Eugene appeared to be more focused on his “joke” of writing the other guys “doctor’s excuses” to get out of playing her game, she asked him, “Eugene, can you be the leader of your house and lead your friends?”

After he responded that she could have approached him “in a nice way,” Toya began shouting at her husband of 17 years. Even though she insisted that there was “nothing wrong” with her demanding that Eugene step up and be a leader, the emergency medicine doc, for his part, pointed out that he wasn’t the only one who took her tirade personally.

His referencing her Married to Med castmates set off Toya even more, prompting her to retreat upstairs to take a breather. Dr. Eugene, meanwhile, admitted to some of the partygoers that he “shouldn’t have made a joke” and would have to apologize to his wife.

Despite the marital conflict, Toya assured fans in her chat with The Daily Dish that all is well in the Harris household, these days.

“We both agree that we’ve been doing so well as a couple,” Toya said. “Our communication has been on point; we’ve been more cognizant of how to lift each other up, as opposed to tearing each other down. And so, that episode, to me and him, was not a great reflection of where we are in our marriage.”

What Drs. Heavenly Kimes and Mimi Sanders said about Toya Bush-Harris’ marriage

When Dr. Contessa Metcalfe went to check on Toya, the latter declared, “I want Mimi and Heavenly to get out. … I don’t like that s–t. Don’t do that. Like, don’t egg on no arguments between me and my husband. That’s not cool.”

From what viewers saw, Heavenly, for one, had commented that there was “trouble in paradise” between the spouses. Then, when Toya accused Eugene of not being a leader, the Atlanta-area dentist chimed in again to say, “Toya, no, baby, no. That’s not nice.”

Dr. Mimi, meanwhile, only appeared to tell Toya, “Don’t do that. Lean into your femininity.”

Upon returning to the party, a still-activated Toya slammed the ladies, claiming that Dr. Eugene was “more concerned” about what they thought than anything else. She also contended that the ladies didn’t have her back, at least as far as her marriage was concerned.

As Toya put it to Dr. Simone Whitmore afterward, “I’m tired of being judged, like our relationship is any different from anybody else’s. I’m over it.”

Even so, as Heavenly and Mimi voluntarily made their exits from the party, both women maintained that they hadn’t said “anything negative” about Toya and Eugene’s marriage.

As the drama continues on Married to Medicine, find out how Dr. Eugene’s career change impacted his and Toya’s relationship.
