US Marine Travels to Chicago Area to Kidnap, Sexually Assault 12-Year-Old Girl – Crime Online

An active duty US Marine was arrested after he flew from North Carolina to Chicago to kidnap and sexually assault a 12-year-old girl.

William Richard Roy, 24, was arrested on Sunday in Durham after his arrival there by bus with the pre-teen, WGN reported.

Roy was stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune on North Carolina’s coast. His victim lived in Hammond, a Chicago suburb across the state line in Indiana.

Investigators said the girl’s grandmother reported her missing to the Hammond Police Department on Saturday, and that department contacted the FBI with information that the girl was believed to be with Roy.

Federal investigators learned the Marine had flown from North Carolina to Chicago on October 24, then took an Uber to Hammond the next day, when he met the 12-year-old at a park. Then he took the girl in an Uber back to a Chicago hotel, where they stayed the night before boarding a bus the following day.

FBI agents and local police officers met the bus when it arrived on October 26, arrested Roy, and “safely recovered” the child.

He has been charged with federal counts of enticing a minor to travel for illicit sexual activity, transporting a minor to engage in illicit sexual activity, and interstate travel with intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
