Vanderpump Rules Was Almost Named *This* Shocking Title

It’s hard to imagine hearing the familiar chords and lyrics “just raise your glasses high, this one’s for you tonight” without thinking of anything but the iconic Vanderpump Rules intro and theme song. But now Andy Cohen has revealed that the show was shockingly almost known by an entirely different title.

How to Watch

Vanderpump Rules Season 12 premieres on Tuesday, December 2 at 9/8c on Bravo and streams next day on Peacock. Watch âRaise Your Glass to 11 Seasonsâ special on Tuesday, November 25 at 9/8c on Bravo.

“Hey, here’s a production secret fans don’t know,” Andy teased during the Vanderpump Rules Season 12 special on Nov. 25. “The title Vanderpump Rules wasn’t chosen until after filming for Season 1 had wrapped.”

What exactly did Lisa Vanderpump and her crew of young, dramatic, beautiful SUR-vers call the show before it became its signature title in 2013?

“An alternate title that the crew loved was Just The Tip,” Andy revealed, and then joked at the double entendre. “Can you imagine? This cast has never stopped at “just the tip” of anything.”

Although Lisa and her staff, including original cast members Tom Sandoval, Katie Maloney, and Scheana Shay, had an amazing 11 season run, it was announced in November 2024 that Season 12 would be a new chapter, with a cast of “close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors.”

“The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between,” Lisa said at the time in a statement. “I can’t thank enough those who have shared their lives. How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”

Lisa Vanderpump shares how the Vanderpump Rules cast reacted to the Season 12 shake-up

As many of the original Vanderpump Rules cast have moved on in their careers, others have moved over to The Valley, including Brittany Cartwright and Kristen Doute. Tom Schwartz and Lala Kent recently announced at BravoCon 2025 they’d also be joining Season 3. Lisa weighed in on how the cast reacted to the news of the reboot during the Season 3 finale of executive producer Alex Baskin’s Bravo’s Hot Mic Podcast.

“Well, I put something out on social media to talk about how I love them all, and I do love them all, regardless of their antics and their foibles,” Lisa shared. “There’s a deep love there, but just because what we’ve been through together and seeing them at such a young age, even though they’ve been very frustrating at times, for sure, and they’ve made mistakes, but it was predictable,” she said of their individual reactions.

“Of course, Schwartz straight away called me and said, ‘I just want to thank you for all the opportunities you’ve given me,’” Lisa added as she named names. And James [Kennedy], too,” Lisa said. “Lala, yeah, I’ve always been very close to her.”

Lisa also revealed that she hadn’t heard from Katie, although her Something About Her sandwich shop partner Ariana Madix “texted” or “tweeted” or “something.”

“Katie, I didn’t hear from, but you know, as I say, that doesn’t really surprise me,” she admitted.

What the trailer for Vanderpump Rules Season 12 teases

The new shift of SUR-vers will clock in ready to “make their mark,” an announcement for the season promises.

“This season on Vanderpump Rules, the deep-rooted, dynamic group of friends, frenemies, and lovers that have been working for Lisa Vanderpump at SUR for years are shaking things up — from Pumptinis to chaos,” per the release. “Despite new uniforms and a few fresh faces in the mix, the drama remains as messy and complicated as their iconic predecessors.”
