A new video shows Georgia businessman Nathan Millard walking down the street with an unknown man shortly before he disappeared after a night out with a client on February 23.
Millard’s body was found nearly two weeks later, wrapped in plastic and carpet and left on an empty lot about three miles from where he was last seen, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
Although police say they do not currently suspect foul play, they are looking for anyone with information about his movements that night — particularly how his body ended up abandoned on Scenic Highway.
“Look, we’ll ask whoever put him there — if something happened and there was a moment of panic, come forward,” said Police Captain Kevin Heinz at a news conference on Tuesday. “We just want to know what happened to him. Our goal is to find out what happened to him.”
Millard, 42, travelled to Baton Rouge on February 22 for business. The following night, he went to a basketball game and then to Happy’s Irish Pub with his client. Sources told WBRZ that Millard left the pub at about 11:30 p.m. after an employee cut him off because he had too much to drink.
About an hour later, he was at the Greyhound bus station on Florida Boulevard, some 12 blocks away from the pub and on the other side of Interstate 110, which cuts through downtown Baton Rouge. There, he encountered a security guard who asked if he needed help.
“The security guard offered to call him a ride, get him an Uber, to the call the police for him … ” Heinz said. “He didn’t appear to be in distress. She just felt as though he was out of place. He declined that offer, and he left of his own accord.”
Heinz said Millard was seen on several security videos after leaving the bus station, with the last sighting coming at about 4:30 a.m. on February 24. Heinz did not say where that sighting took place. In none of the videos did Millard seem distressed, he said.
The new video, obtained by WBRZ, shows Millard walking along Florida Boulevard, with a man wearing shorts and a light-colored t-shirt, after leaving the bus station but before he was last seen.
Millard’s body was found on Monday. His wife, Amber Millard, said that investigators told her they believe he may have died from an accidental overdose. Preliminary autopsy results showed no internal or external injuries, and investigators are awaiting final results, which will include a toxicology report, to determine cause of death.
