Erika Jayne’s career in music is still going strong. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member has since pivoted from performing her own songs on stage to DJing events all across the nation, and she could not be happier about this.
Erika, who now DJs under the name DJ Pretty Mess, took to Instagram on Dec. 9, where she opened up about an upcoming gig in NYC this December. As it turns out, DJing is something that Erika is very excited about.
The mom of one took to Instagram on Nov. 12, after a performance, where she opened up about the excitement she has for being around music again. “DJ PRETTY MESS LIVE,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “I had so much fun being back on stage behind the decks this weekend. It has sparked a fire inside of me and I can’t wait for my next experience. Stay tuned My Pretties!”
Erika Jayne reveals how she got into DJing
In October, Erika announced that she is officially “back” and DJing. She took to Instagram at the time, where she revealed how she got into spinning music. “Music has always been my constant — my first love, my escape, my heartbeat,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “From performing as a singer, dancer, and actress growing up, to legendary nights in New York City in the late 80’s, crate-digging for vinyls and losing my spark in the underground club scene — that’s where the spark truly began.”
“I’m back at the decks and back to where it all started,” she added. “Introducing DJ Pretty Mess — fueled by the same love of music that’s always been in my soul.”
How did Erika Jayne get into performing music?
Erika has always had a love of music and being on stage. Erika’s mom, Renee Chahoy, is a classically trained pianist and piano teacher, who introduced her to a love of music.
After working as a go-go dancer in the early ’90s and exploring a career in acting, Erika moved to Los Angeles. It was there where she started her career as a performer under the name, Erika Jayne. “Erika Jayne was born out of rebellion. I like to break the rules,” she told PEOPLE in 2018.

Erika released her first song, “Roller Coaster,” in 2007, and followed that up with her debut album, Pretty Mess. Erika has since gone on to release “How Many F*cks,” “Painkllr,” and “XXPEN$IVE.”
After touring and performing all over the world, Erika began a residency at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2023. This was documented in a two-part documentary series, Erika Jayne: Bet It All on Blonde, which aired on Bravo in 2024.
Erika’s accomplishments continue to grow. Her song “Drip” was featured in the Academy Award-winning film Anora in 2024. She followed this up by competing on The Masked Singer Season 13 earlier this year and performing with the Scissor Sisters in July.

Erika Jayne opens up about performing on Broadway
Erika has also taken her performing talents to Broadway. Erika first took on the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway, which began on Jan. 6, 2020, but was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She reprised the role in January 2025, fully completing her run in February. Erika opened up about her excitement to finish her run in an interview with The Daily Dish earlier this year. “It’s nice. I think it’s nice for everybody,” she said. “I’m excited that I get to finish out. I did like 80 or 77 [shows] and now I get to go in and finish out my contract, so it’s nice.”

Erika also has a way with words. In 2018, Erika published her memoir, Pretty Mess, where she opened up about her childhood, her early years working in NYC, her first marriage, and giving birth to her son.

In March 2018, the book became a New York Times bestseller. “Obviously, I thought it out, and I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out,” she told The Daily Dish at the time. “I think it’s definitely a more intimate view of my life.”

She also has a weekly podcast, Diamonds in the Rough, which she co-hosts with RHOBH alum, Teddi Mellencamp. The podcast, which first debuted in Dec. 2024, features recaps of Bravo shows and is also a place for both women to share intimate details about their lives.
