The DCI is investigating Matiang’i following a reported police raid on his Karen home in Nairobi on February 9, 2023.

The DCI has accused Fred of publishing false information regarding the alleged raid.

Matiang’i was scheduled to appear before the DCI last week, but his lawyer claimed he was out of the country attending to family matters. 

President William Ruto’s current administration has alleged that Fred Matiang’i targeted politicians loyal to the previous head of state during the lead-up to the General Election on August 9, 2022.

Some of the allies of former President Kenyatta are now claiming that the Ruto administration is seeking revenge on those who were close to the former president.
