Dr. Simone Whitmore’s marriage to Cecil Whitmore may appear to be in critical condition on Married to Medicine, but not to worry, she insisted that the prognosis is good.
As seen on Season 12, Episode 3, Dr. Simone and Cecil clashed over what she perceived to be his lack of support in parenting their two sons, Miles, 26, and Michael, 22. Later, she declared to Quad Webb at Brandi Milton’s birthday dinner that she “doesn’t want to be married anymore.”
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish, Simone revealed Cecil’s reaction to those shocking moments.
“I’m sure his feelings were hurt, because he isn’t thinking that I should always take everything so far,” the Atlanta-area OB-GYN admitted. “But we are not on the same team. We’re not on the same page with our children. And I would just like for us to get things back together again, where we at least present a unified front with our boys.”

Despite the intense conflict, Dr. Simone reassured fans that her relationship is still solid after nearly three decades together.
“My marriage is in a good place,” she added. “Cecil and I have been married years, and we know how to weather the storm.”
Inside Dr. Simone and Cecil Whitmore’s parenting disagreement
On Married to Med’s Dec. 14 episode, the Whitmores revealed that both Miles and Michael had officially earned their college degrees. “Now, it’s time to pay bills, baby,” Simone quipped in a confessional.
After the boys surprised their parents by making pasta and mixing up some cocktails, Simone broached the topic of Michael’s “financial situation.” She revealed that he had “spent over $60,000 by himself” in a year on a credit card, before asking Michael how he planned to “finance” his planned law school enrollment.
“I do have a mother who makes pretty good money,” he responded, prompting Simone to shoot back, “I don’t feel like I should be footing the bill for anything other than the roof over your head, that sort of a thing.” She also reminded him that she paid for her doctorate degree through “scholarship money and loans.”
Michael, meanwhile, countered that Simone’s mother wasn’t in the financial position to assist her in the way she was to help him. What’s more, he argued that all the “rich white kids'” parents bankroll their education, allowing them to graduate college “debt-free” and already set up as “millionaires,” before they even begin their careers.
“Michael’s point is still a valid one,” Cecil chimed in. “We are blessed. We are in a situation where we can help.”
After Cecil continued to defend their son’s position, Simone vented in a confessional, “I get tired of being the lone man out. It’s always three against one.”
As the heated mother-son debate continued, Cecil once again announced that he was “jumping in,” to which Simone fired back, “You don’t f–king jump in. You can’t speak for me ’cause you don’t think like me. … You don’t support me on s–t.”
When her husband asked where that reaction came from, she simply shouted back, “It comes from my heart! It comes from my heart!”
What Dr. Simone Whitmore said about not wanting to be married to Cecil Whitmore
Even after the dust settled, Simone was still heated at Season 12 newcomer Brandi’s birthday dinner.
Amidst an unrelated discussion, Dr. Contessa Metcalfe referenced her preference for a wedding ring over a Rolls-Royce, to which Quad clapped back, “Some people here [are] married and don’t even want to be damn married no more.”
That’s when Dr. Simone entered the chat to ask, “Quad, who here doesn’t want to be married anymore, other than me?”

Quad was immediately taken aback by her jaw-dropping statement, replying, “What?! Yes, you do! Yes, you do!”
Simone cryptically responded, “You have no idea,” and Quad repeatedly urged her, “Don’t say that.”
In a confessional, Simone added, “Marriage is about teamwork. It is about supporting one another. But, sometimes, I feel taken for granted.”
