Years after Whitney Rose’s husband Justin Rose got fired from his job, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member was still holding onto guilt — and she couldn’t help but wonder if she lost some of her own identity in the process.
“I used to be really fun, wild, and free-spirited,” she explained in a Season 6, Episode 5, confessional, specifically mentioning how she would drink and get tattoos and piercings. “And that led to Justin losing his job.”
ICYMI: Whitney previously explained during Season 3 that Justin’s firing had at least partially been a result of her status as a public figure. The following season documented his return to work after his non-compete agreement eventually expired.
“That hit me at such a deep level that I felt like I had to change that part of me, to conform to who I thought Whitney had to be,” she continued on RHOSLC‘s Oct. 14 episode, before citing their recent business failure. “And in the end, I ended up losing it all anyways, so we’re getting back to being the fun, free-spirited, loving, wild, sexy Whitney that I am.”

That’s ultimately why she hosted a luncheon for her castmates, as she explained to them in a welcome toast.
“I haven’t been happy,” she shared with the ladies, recalling a recent “emotional” stroll down memory lane involving old photos and videos. “I want to go back to what’s meaningful to me, and I want to start here: having wine with my friends with this gorgeous scenery that we call home.”

As part of her “telepathic tasting” lunch at a local vineyard, Whitney flew in a New York-based “intuitive consultant” named Terence to give her and her castmates individual psychic readings.
During Whitney’s session, Terence immediately clocked everything that she had just described about her life with Justin.
“Why do I feel like communication is upside down in the home?” he asked. “You’ve kind of shut down a little bit, the last two years. There’s also frustration, business wise. …Â You’ve kind of let the world take over, instead of you taking over the world. You have to be yourself, authentically.”

After previously revealing that she and Justin had gone “all in” on her business before they were left with “nothing,” Whitney added some new intel on the matter in a confessional.
“Wild Rose Beauty was the thing that finally made me feel equal in our marriage,” she elaborated. “Looking back, Justin showed no interest in it. And I didn’t realize how much I needed Justin’s approval and how much it hurt me that he didn’t want to be a part of Wild Rose Beauty.”
As Whitney tearfully concluded, “It’s hard, because I love Justin, but I also resent him and I don’t feel like I can talk to Justin about these feelings right now. Our marriage is beautiful, but communication is the thing that we struggle with.”
