Why Andy Cohen Cites The Valley for Weight Loss & GLP-1 Use

Andy Cohen’s decision to make changes in his health journey came in the wake of The Valley Season 2 reunion, the Watch What Happens Live host has revealed.

The Bravo exec discussed his decision to take microdose amounts of a GLP-1 as part of his weight loss journey in a Sept. 26 interview with NBC’s Today with Jenna & Friends, admitting to hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones that he was no longer able to button his shirts. Said Andy, “It was so bad,” something he recognized when looking back at himself on The Valley Season 2 reunion, which was taped in May and aired in July. Since then, he’s lost “a good chunk of weight.”

Explained the WWHL host, “We all notice ourselves, and especially when we’re on TV and we’re looking at a freaking monitor of ourselves every day, it’s terrible. If you watch The Valley reunion from last season, which I know you will, I do not look my best, let me say that. And it was after that that I was like, ‘I gotta get this together.’”

Andy maintained it was a “great jumpstart” to his health journey, and he is now more “deliberate” with the foods he eats and his fitness routine, including lifting heavier weights. “It’s been great,” he said.

Details on Andy Cohen’s weight loss journey

The father of two shared on the Sept. 9 episode of his Sirius XM show, Radio Andy, that it would have been “completely hypocritical” not to be transparent about his weight loss, “given that for 20 years, I have been asking people about their body regimens.”

All in all, he was “really unhappy” with his weight. Continued the longtime reunion host, “My doctor and I talked about this last year, had recommended a GLP-1 a few times, to not only address what I was feeling about my weight, but treat plaque in my arteries and high blood pressure. This is a medication that is actually beneficial to a lot of elements of health. And I finally said ‘yes.’”

Andy has been candid about ensuring he not only takes medication to help him lose weight, but also covering the mental aspect responsible for his relationship with food, as he explained on his radio show. He said the small doses helped with “cravings,” something he was “having a really hard time” controlling. What’s more, it encouraged him to “be more disciplined” with his regimen.

As he put it, “I will say, my appetite returned from the micro-dose, but I feel like it caused me to reframe my relationship with food because it was really s–ty before this.”

What is Andy Cohen’s workout routine?

Andy has been focusing on fitness with the help of his personal trainer, Stanislav “Stani” Kravchenko. Explaining how some GLP-1 drugs can cause a loss in muscle mass, Andy explained, “I am on a pretty rigorous health journey with Stani, who is like, ‘OK, if you’re going to do this,’ he put me on way heavier weights.’”

“And, by the way, I should mention, I feel privileged to have access to a GLP-1, and I think everybody should, through insurance,” he continued. “This is a revolutionary drug. I’m so happy also to have been on this journey under the care of a doctor and working with a trainer to make sure that we have done this right.”
