Although Terry Dubrow is a very successful plastic surgeon, and Heather Dubrow’s acting career dates back to the early ‘90s, Terry recently admitted that money can still be a tough subject in their Los Angeles penthouse—to the point that he’s even shed tears.

After Heather revealed her father was “not emotional” during The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Season 19, Episode 15, Terry questioned if Heather married her father.

“You’ve seen me cry a few times,” he pointed out in the Oct. 16 episode, and Heather agreed. But then Terry joked, “At the American Express bill!” as he laughed so hard he pounded the kitchen counter. As Heather grinned at him, he added, “Just kidding!” But Heather shot back, “No, you’re not. That’s the joke!”

Terry and Heather have gone through financial ups and downs over their more than 26 years of marriage, but the parents to four have ultimately amassed quite an impressive fortune, and Heather shared balance is key to their relationship success.

“So, Terry and I are really good at balancing the family and businesses and finances and investments, and when it comes to the children, that’s my realm,” Heather said in an August interview with The Daily Dish. “He has no say.”

Details on Heather and Terry Dubrow’s real estate ventures

Heather and Terry took a huge leap into growing their wealth with real estate when they sold their iconic Newport Beach mansion, dubbed the Dubrow Chateau, for a record-breaking price of $55 million in 2022. They downsized into what they called a “love shack”: a Los Angeles penthouse. Heather unveiled a look in June at her latest home renovations to the penthouse, which include upgrading her walk-in closet. The Dubrows even rented a second apartment in the same building to accommodate their children.

Then, they made another move: buying a 9,000-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion for $16 million to renovate back in 2023.

Although Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agents Josh Flagg and Josh Altman ultimately sold Heather and Terry’s Beverly Hills mansion for $16.5 million in August, the adventure in real estate didn’t come without major headaches which were documented throughout Season 19, and ultimately, a loss on investment of a whopping $5.8 million.

“It was a gigantic fail,” Terry said on the couple’s Between Us podcast in September. “So if you don’t like us, congratulations. We bombed. We got killed on that house.”

Still, the Dubrows remain optimistic about real estate investment properties. Terry told The Daily Dish in August they’re actually “developing a very big property in Idaho” with “many acres.”

Terry also revealed they’re on the hunt for another “family home.”

How Heather and Terry Dubrow work with charities and organizations

While building their empire, Heather and Terry have also been major philanthropists, including the time that Terry accidentally interrupted Gina Kirschenheiter’s moment to announce a match to her donation during a fundraiser for The Innocence Center on RHOC Season 19, Episode 14.

Gina joked she wasn’t surprised to be “out-Dubrow[ed]” by the generous couple.

Additionally, Heather partnered with Junior Cookies in Los Angeles to create a special baked good, with the proceeds going to an organization she strongly advocates with: The Trevor Project. She and Terry also pledged $50,000 to the group’s cause.

“The Trevor Project is an incredible organization that has a hotline for youth in crisis,” Heather said in her Season 19, Episode 14 confessional. “I’ve been involved with them for a long time—I think it’s almost ten years…I think we can all agree that kids in crisis need help. That is exactly what The Trevor Project does.” Heather added that “every 45 seconds, an LGTBQ+ youth tries to commmit suicide.”

Heather and Terry also got all dressed up back in January 2024 for the annual Go Red For Women Dress Collection Concert and fashion show held by the American Heart Association. Heather even strutted down the runway herself for the cause, and was met by Terry for a kiss on stage.

Take a walk down memory lane as Heather and Terry look back on RHOC’s infamous “bowgate” 13 years later and share behind-the-scenes details.
