Although Captain Jason Chambers clarified at BravoCon 2025 that the rumour he hooked up with Heather Gay in Australia is just that, the Feb. 9 episode of Below Deck Down Under Season 4 may have just added more fuel to the fire.
“Heather’s the primary. I’m not flirting with anyone but her,” Jason told producers during Episode 2, which featured the epic crossover charter with The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 cast.
All that flirtation sparked some new questions, and Daisy Kelliher prodded Jason for answers during the Below Deck Down Under After Show. She bluntly asked, “Did you two sleep together?”
“No, we haven’t ‘f—ked around,’” Jason clarified, referencing Heather’s confusing verbiage of their relationship that previously aired during RHOSLC Season 6. While Jason shared more details about their friendship, he insisted he and Heather had never shared a kiss, near-kiss, or even a “nibble at the ear.”
Jason explained that they’d had “an awesome time” when Heather visited him in Australia, and though there were some “late nights” together, they only included jazz bars and restaurants and a little dancing.
“It was actually a full week we hung out,” Jason added. “And we got to know each other really well, like on a personal level.”

The gossip started when Heather first met Jason during a vacation in Australia. Initially, Heather and Jason played coy about the situation, leading people to believe something romantic may have happened between them.
In Nov. 2025, the two had back-to-back appearances on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Jason was up first, and though he told host Andy Cohen, “What happens in Sydney, stays in Sydney,” he later clarified that “nothing happened” between them.

When Heather stopped by the Clubhouse the next night, she responded to what Jason had said the night before: “Well that’s fine. If that’s how he defines ‘nothing,’ that’s fine,” she suggestively responded. “I love him. We had so much fun in Australia…we’re doing press, we’re hanging out every day. It’s his land, and he was my guide in many ways.”
Andy later asked Heather to give her “final word” on her and Jason’s relationship during Part 1 of the RHOSLC Season 6 reunion, and she insisted when she said they “f—ked around,” it wasn’t a sexual term in this case.
“Yeah, we’ve hung out. There’s nothing there. We are friends,” she explained. “If there was a connection, we would have known.”

Andy asked, “So you didn’t kiss?” and Heather answered, “No.”
She then joked, “Listen, you guys, you don’t think I would scream from the rooftops if I landed Captain Jason? I would be using jib, jab, sail terms. Nautical. I’d be wearing a sailor suit.”

Jason may have caught the eyes of more than one Salt Lake City Housewife. During the Feb. 9 episode of Below Deck Down Under, he struck up a conversation with Britani Bateman following a chaotic screaming match on Night 1 of the charter.
“Let me ask you this: do you actually, like, run the ship?” Britani asked Jason.
After he confirmed he does, indeed, captain the ship, Britani slyly suggested, “I kinda want to see.”
“Not now,” Jason said. “Tomorrow. When we’re running. It’s gonna be better when we’re going.”
Undeterred, Britani replied, “I kinda just wanna get out of here. I was looking for an excuse.”
But Jason answered, “I’m going to bed.” He later told producers, “I don’t know if she’s flirting with me or not.”
Bronwyn Newport and Meredith Marks—who watched the whole exchange go down—accused Britani of flirting with the captain (the exchange was aired on RHOSLC Season 6, Episode 8), but Lisa Barlow quickly shut the conversation down.
“Enough with the pile on,” she said. “Captain Jason’s not interested. It’s like, duh! Right?”
