WESTMINSTER, Colo. (TCN) —Â A 37-year-old woman stands accused of fatally stabbing her mother, who was found underneath several blankets.
On Sept. 28, the Westminster Police Department responded to a home, where they discovered the victim, identified by the Denver Post as 64-year-old Kathy Johnson, with signs of trauma. Police made contact with the victim’s daughter, Sarah Riste, and a child outside the residence. Riste’s shirt was allegedly covered in blood, and she had told the child not to speak.
During an interview, Riste reportedly told investigators she had gotten into a dispute with her mother before she allegedly retrieved a knife from the kitchen and fatally stabbed her.
According to the Denver Post, authorities believe Riste is the mother of the child, who said something to the effect of, “Mom stabbed Grandma, Mom is going to jail, Grandma is dead, and now I don’t have anyone.”
