ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa. (TCN) —Â A 39-year-old woman faces charges after authorities reportedly discovered three deceased infants in her home, including two in the attic.
According to Pennsylvania State Police and KDKA-TV, on Sept. 13, officers responded to a residence after the property owner found a trash bag in a closet with a foul odor, and it was confirmed there was a deceased baby inside. The property owner reportedly told police that Jessica Mauthe had been evicted, and the discovery was made while cleaning.
Officials also allegedly located two totes in the attic that contained deceased infants inside each of them.
According to KDKA, Mauthe told police she gave birth to the first infant approximately a year ago in the bathroom, and she could hear the baby making noises. Mauthe then allegedly took the newborn from the toilet and wrapped the baby in towels “until it stopped making noises” before placing the child in a closet.
Mauthe reportedly claimed she gave birth to two more infants while residing in the home, and she confessed to putting their bodies in the attic.
According to state police, Mauthe faces charges of criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse.
She reportedly has two other kids, ages 6 and 8.
