Alexandra Dominguez (Marion County Jail).
A Florida woman was convicted of choking her mother and grabbing her brother by the groin in an argument spurred by a missing PlayStation 4 game.
A Marion County jury last week convicted 21-year-old Alexandra Dominguez on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and battery after deliberating for just 20 minutes, the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney”s Office said.
On April 24, 2024, Dominguez followed her mother and brother from a park to their home off SW 43rd Terrace Road in Ocala to grab a PlayStation 4. The victims told Dominguez to wait outside so they could get the game console and give it to her. When they handed it over to her, she became irate over a missing game. A verbal argument began just outside the front door and quickly turned physical.

Dominguez first attacked her mother, grabbing her by the throat. The mother ran inside, but Dominguez chased her and pushed her onto the couch. Dominguez again put her hands around her mother’s throat and choked her for about a minute, a probable cause arrest affidavit said.
“Based upon the statement by the reportee and the length of time the suspect had her hands around the reportee’s throat, one could reasonably believe the blood flow of the reportee’s throat was restricted,” detectives wrote.
The brother tried to intervene, but Dominguez “grabbed his groin and squeezed and pulled the hair on his beard,” cops wrote. Dominguez was eventually removed from the home, but she continued to pound on the front door.
Dominguez drove back to her home in Naples, but cops later arrested her.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
