A Michigan woman allegedly shot a man who was antagonizing her six times and then “made fun” of him while calling 911, later telling police she would’ve blasted his toes and fingers off, too, if she hadn’t run out of bullets, prosecutors say.

Darnisha Sanders, 32, is charged with assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm in a building causing injury and using a firearm to commit a felony in connection with the alleged shooting, according to online court records. The 42-year-old man who Sanders allegedly shot half a dozen times was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit in the head and body, according to MLive.com. Authorities have not publicly identified him.

The alleged incident unfolded early Sunday morning, with cops responding to Sanders’ home in Saginaw, located in the 1200 block of Maple Street, at around 3:30 a.m., police say. Sanders called 911 herself after gunning the victim down and could be heard by a dispatcher mocking him, MLive.com reports.

Sanders claimed over the phone that the man was bothering and antagonizing her before she opened fire, according to local prosecutors. She allegedly said she ran out of bullets during the shooting and would’ve kept blasting had she not. One of the rounds was reportedly still lodged in his head when he was hospitalized.

“My child has been involved in an abusive situation since 2017,” a Facebook post and GoFundMe reads from a woman, Evelyn Burkes, who has identified herself as Sanders’ mother. “I need assistance with finding a defense attorney and money towards her bond in regards to this domestic abuse situation that turned into self defense.”

Police say they recovered the handgun that Sanders allegedly used, which is registered in her name, per MLive.com. She allegedly said several times while being taken into custody and transported by cops that she wished she hadn’t run out of ammo, while also making fun of the victim for crying.

Sanders was arraigned Tuesday in Saginaw County. Her bond was reportedly set at $500,000 after prosecutors told the judge that Sanders “showed no remorse [and] instead she made fun of the victim’s condition.”

Sanders is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 10 for a preliminary examination conference and on Oct. 14 for her preliminary hearing. She was still behind bars Wednesday.
