A West Virginia woman was charged last week with child abuse after she allegedly pinned her daughter down and pulled two teeth out of her mouth.
Witnesses told police that Rebecca Bailey yelled that her 5-year-old daughter “had a demon in her” while holding a cross during the incident, according to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. She pulled out the child’s two bottom front teeth before another family member, who had been sleeping, awoke and intervened.
The girl was “placed in a safe environment” and released to a “responsible family member” after receiving medical treatment, the sheriff’s office said.
Bailey was charged with child abuse resulting in bodily injury and booked into the Southern Regional Jail, where she was being held on a $50,000 bail, WVNS said.
