Candiace Dillard Bassett confessed she had preconceived notions about what marriage would entail. And it turns out she was pretty spot-on.
The Real Housewives of Potomac alum revealed this on Tuesday, August 12, just a day after she and Chris Bassett rang in their seventh anniversary. Candiace celebrated the milestone with a heartfelt Instagram post that included photos and videos of their lavish wedding ceremony and over-the-top reception.

“A day late bc we were too busy kiking lol… Happy SEVEN YEAR Anniversary, my Swannnnn,” she captioned the carousel. “Seven years ago, I thought marriage would be all love and laughter — and I was right. But I never imagined how full, blessed, and downright hilarious life could be with you.”
The post began with the happy couple embracing each other outside the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., where they exchanged “I dos” among friends and family. There were also shots of the bridal party, Candiace and Chris’ first dance, and the kiss of the bride.

“Time has flown, but we? We’ve shown up for every occasion, plot twist, and adventure with grace, grit, and just the right amount of wit,” she continued. “We do life together better than anyone I know and I’m grateful for us. Here’s to seven years + forever to go.”

Chris entered the marriage with three kids — Owen, Mateo, and Naia — from previous relationships. He and Candiace expanded the family on October 3, when they welcomed their first child together. Candiace confirmed the happy arrival in a November interview with People magazine, which provided a first glimpse at her son, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett.

“He is just the cutest little thing,” she told the outlet. “Chris and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so cliché to say, but he’s brought such joy to our lives in ways I never would have been able to describe before. It’s pure love!
“I just look at him and envision all the adventures we’re going to have,” she continued. “Throughout my pregnancy, when I would talk to him in my stomach, I would say, ‘I can’t wait to see who you’re going to be.’ And that’s been the joy in my heart that’s continued after his birth. It’s exciting to think about. I’m so ready for a lifetime of being on the sidelines, cheering him on.”
