Parents Arrested After Leaving 1-Year-Old Daughter to Die in Hot Car – Crime Online

An investigation is underway after a 1-year-old Texas girl was reportedly found dead in a hot car on Thursday.

Shavetta Combs, 27, called Bexar County police, allegedly claiming her daughter was not breathing after being left in a vehicle. Shavetta and Aaron Combs, 27, told deputies that they took their baby with them to pick up their other children from school, but forgot her in the car once they returned home, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

The toddler was reportedly left in the car for more than two hours. Her parents only realized they had left her in the vehicle after their other child started looking for her.

Shayetta and Aaron Combs are charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury or death. The medical examiner will confirm their daughter’s cause of death.

If confirmed, Combs’ daughter is the 26th child to die in a hot car this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 39 children died in hot cars in 2024.
