RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (TCN) —Â A man recently pleaded guilty to kicking in the doors at the homes of two separate victims and killing them.
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney John Bramlett announced Sept. 9 that Matthew Kidd pleaded guilty to murder and capital murder in connection with the deaths of William “Billy” Morris and Christian Storey. A judge sentenced him to life for each charge.
According to prosecutors, on Aug. 27, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a deceased male and learned someone had kicked in Morris’ door and shot him multiple times. Two days later, Brandon Police responded to a similar call at Storey’s home and learned someone also kicked in his door, shot him multiple times, and stole some of his belongings.
Investigators identified Kidd as the primary suspect and arrested him at a hotel. He reportedly confessed to authorities that he shot Morris and Storey.
In a statement, Bramlett said, “Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of William ‘Billy’ Morris and Christian Storey. We are grateful for their cooperation, as well as the hard work of our law enforcement agencies, in bringing about today’s judgment and sentence on this defendant. The defendant will serve the remainder of his life in prison, with no eligibility for parole.”
