A violent chain of events in Pennsylvania has resulted in one person’s death and three others being injured.
WATE reported that on Friday in Robinson Township, a motel manager was fatally shot, and three others, including a police officer and the suspect, were injured stemming from a dispute at a motel in the 4200 block of Steubenville Pike.
Stanley West, 38, allegedly shot his “female companion” during a parking lot dispute at the motel. The woman escaped and is being treated for her injuries.
The motel manager, Rakesh Ehagaban, 50, went outside to check on the disturbance when West allegedly shot him. Ehagaban was pronounced dead at the scene.
WPXI was told by a man who works at the motel what he saw and heard.
“I went in there, sat down, and I always play with my daughter when I’m done. I put a movie in, and then I heard, ‘pow, pow, pow, pow, pow.’ And I see my boss lying on the ground,” said Lemel Howell.
West then allegedly fled in a U-Haul van. Allegheny County Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns said that around 2:30 pm, Pittsburgh police detectives located the vehicle in the East Hills neighborhood, according to WATE.
As officers approached the van, West reportedly opened fire, prompting police to return fire. Both West and a Pittsburgh police officer were struck. The officer sustained a leg wound and is reported to be in stable condition.
West is currently in custody while hospitalized in critical condition.
West has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and recklessly endangering another person, according to WPXI.
WPXI reported that three officers are currently on administrative leave.
Two Pittsburgh officers and one Allegheny County officer will remain on leave while the Pennsylvania State Police conducts an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting in East Hills.
