An Alabama man who called 911 to report that his wife was unresponsive in their bathroom is now behind bars, charged with murder.

Herman Glaude, 41, was arrested on Sept. 24 by the Mobile Police Department, which said in a press release that a homicide investigation into the death of his wife, 52-year-old Jennifer Glaude, determined that he was responsible.

According to 911 transcripts obtained by local Fox affiliate WALA, Jennifer Glaude was hospitalized on Aug. 14 after her husband called 911 to report that she was “injured” and unresponsive, telling dispatchers, “It’s like she’s snoring with her eyes open.”

Two days later, Jennifer Glaude was dead.

According to police, the investigation into Jennifer Glaude’s death concluded on Sept. 17, ultimately leading to an arrest warrant for Herman Glaude on one count of murder. Police said that Jennifer Glaude died as a result of brain trauma “following an assault.” An autopsy listed her cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

WALA reported that the 911 call placed by Herman Glaude on Aug. 14 was not the first one that prompted police to go to the couple’s home. Just the day before, another call was reportedly placed to 911 after Jennifer Glaude used Facebook Messenger to ask for help. According to WALA’s reporting, the unidentified 911 caller told dispatchers, “There is a female victim. She is screaming for her life. There is a male suspect in the home, and she feels threatened, like she’s in danger.”

The caller reportedly told dispatchers that it was Herman Glaude who was threatening his wife. WALA reported that police responded to the Glaudes’ home, but no charges were filed.

One day later, Herman Glaude placed his own call to 911. When a dispatcher asked, “Is she sick or injured?” he reportedly responded, “Yeah, I think she’s injured. Well, it’s my wife. She’s in, uh, she’s in the bathroom.”

When asked to clarify if she was sick or injured, Herman Glaude reportedly said, “Yes, I think — I don’t know. It’s like she’s snoring with her eyes open.”

After Jennifer Glaude’s death, an unnamed friend of hers told local NBC affiliate WPMI that she reportedly rushed into a marriage with Herman Glaude, who she said treated her poorly and was not able to keep a job. WPMI reported that Herman Glaude had a prior charge of voyeurism in Mississippi and was convicted of marijuana possession in Mobile County, where Jennifer Glaude was a fiscal officer at the probate court.

Herman Glaude was charged with one count of murder and is being held in the Mobile County Jail on $350,000 bond.
