The Real Housewives of Orange County friend gushed over the 6-year-old during the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show, when cast member Jennifer Pedranti took a few moments to reflect on her bond with her teenage daughter, Everleigh.
“Just wait until Sky is, like, 14, 15,” Jennifer told Gretchen. “Evie is almost 15, and I’m not kidding, Gretchen, she’s my best friend. It is the most priceless gift ever. She’s a good girl.”
Jennifer described Everleigh as a goodhearted girl who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, especially when it comes to defending others.
“When her friends are not being kind, she will call them out,” Jennifer said. “Not in a rude way, but she’s a girls’ girl. She looks out for her friends.”

Gretchen said she related to Jennifer, as she saw the same qualities in her daughter, Skylar.
“That’s how Sky is, even at this age,” Gretchen began. “I already see that in her at this age. It’s really amazing to see. Her teachers actually complimented me and Slade on our parenting because of that. They’re like, ‘It’s so cool to see when other kids are leaving another kid out, [Skylar is] always taking him and bringing him in the group.’”

Gretchen said she never had a specific conversation with Skylar about the importance of inclusivity, but believed she and Slade were setting good examples through their actions.
“The fact that she’s already doing that at this age makes me so proud,” Gretchen continued, “because I always want her to be that person throughout her whole adult life.”

Gretchen and Slade welcomed Skylar in the summer of 2019, about 10 years after they began dating and roughly six years after they got engaged. Although the former Housewife was clearly impressed with Skylar’s inclusive nature, she previously confessed she was concerned about the fast-approaching teenage years.

“I feel like it was just yesterday we had our daughter, Skylar Gray,” she said in RHOC Season 19, Episode 2. “She’s just a wild daredevil. She’s already on, like, a dirtbike. I’m legitimately scared [for] when she turns a teenager.”

Gretchen shed more light on her family life during a February appearance on Scheana Shay’s Scheananigans podcast, revealing whether she had any plans to welcome more kids. Gretchen confirmed she had frozen her eggs, but had concerns about postpartum depression.
“It was really, really hard on me. It was almost three years long,” she explained. “It wasn’t until I got on the hormone replacement therapy that I finally felt like myself again. But I would love to [have another child], but I would probably consider a surrogate.”
