Bill Maher sent a four-word message to President Donald Trump after the Republican Party’s resounding midterm election losses.
On the Friday, November 6 episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the late-night host addressed the blue wave that saw Democrats take control of both the House and the Senate. Maher did so by checking on the POTUS during his opening monologue.
“Republicans lost bigly — there’s no other way to put it,” the stand-up comedian pointed out. “And great, f***, now I’m never gonna get that check for $5,000.”
Maher added, “But you know what? In 2016, Lindsay Graham said if we nominate Trump, we’re gonna get destroyed, and we will deserve it. And it just shows gays are always 10 years ahead of everybody.”
Of Democrats flipping more seats than predicted in both chambers of Congress, Maher said, “I hate to gloat, but sorry, I have to do a little bit of it because everybody was hedging about this election. ‘Oh, don’t count your chickens. It’s going to be closer than you think.’ I never bought into that bulls***.”
The show then cut to several clips of Maher correctly predicting the midterm election outcome. “My prediction is this will be a historic thumping,” he said in one interview. In different conversation, Maher echoed, “It’s gonna be a classic, historical a**-whopping.” Yet another clip showed Maher warning, “Your part is going to get the dog s*** kicked out of you.”
One thing Maher said that he “could not have predicted” was Trump’s reaction to the election results. “He said congratulations to the Democrats. They did a good job,” he pointed out.
After turning directly to the camera, Maher asked the POTUS, “Don, are you OK?” He continued, addressing Trump, “You sound unwell. You’re not even going to fake it was rigged? I mean…”
