A North Carolina man was arrested after he called 911 Monday night and said he had killed his children.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to the home in Zebulon and met with Wellington Delano Dickens III, who told them that his 3-year-old son was alive inside the home but his 6-, 9-, and 10-year-old biological children and his 18-year-old stepson were dead in the trunk of a car in the garage.
Deputies investigated and found the apparent remains of multiple people in the trunk, but those remains “had been there for a long period of time.”
The remains were taken by the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies and positive identification, and Dickens, 38, was arrested on one count of murder.
More charges are likely when the remains have been identified.
Dickens is being held in the Johnston County Jail without bond.
