BUCKEYE, Ariz. (TCN) — A 23-year-old man is accused of conspiring with someone online to sexually assault his fiancée.
Arizona’s Family reports that on Oct. 16, police responded to a home and spoke to Bella Torres, who alleged an unknown man had entered the house and tried to attack her while her two children were there.
According to court records obtained by Merced Sun-Star, Torres’ 2-month-old baby was sleeping in another room, and her 17-month-old daughter was standing behind her when she allegedly saw a man outside, peeking in. Her fiancé had reportedly just left to go to the grocery store. The man allegedly asked if he could use the bathroom, and Torres attempted to close the door on him, but he allegedly kicked the door open and grabbed Torres by the neck, choking her.
KPNX reports that according to Torres, the man allegedly kicked her toddler as well. “My first instinct is just to protect her,” she said.
He allegedly closed himself in the bathroom with Torres, touched her breasts, and tried to unbutton her pants. Torres then pulled the man into the driveway. On surveillance footage, he could allegedly be heard saying, “Your boyfriend told me you’d be into this,” per the Sun-Star.
Torres fought off the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Adrian Ayala, in her driveway. Ayala allegedly told Torres her fiancée, Zarian Dyer, had contacted him on Reddit and sent him to the home to sexually assault her, per Arizona’s Family.
Ayala fled the scene before police could arrive; KPNX reports a neighbor called the police when they heard Torres scream.
Ayala was arrested at his house the next day, where he allegedly reiterated that Torres’ fiancé had contacted him to plan the assault. He alleged Dyer had told him to sexually assault Torres and call him on FaceTime while doing so. He was charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse, burglary, and aggravated assault, per the Sun-Star.
During his first court appearance on Oct. 18, Ayala told the judge he had been contacted by Dyer to go to the home for a role-play scenario and believed Torres was consenting. He allegedly said he did not intend to commit a felony, according to the Sun-Star.
During the investigation, police examined Ayala’s and Dyer’s devices, Arizona’s Family reports. “They were able to review some of the data from those devices and locate evidence showing that the suspect and the fiancé had been communicating about this planned assault,” according to Carissa Planalp of Buckeye Police.
According to Arizona’s Family, Dyer was booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and conspiracy and is being held on $500,000 bond.
Ayala’s trial is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2027, according to the New York Post. Information regarding Dyer’s court appearances is unknown.
