Ariana Madix couldn’t be happier with her new brown hair color, and she has being the host of Peacock’s Love Island USA to thank for the transformation.
Ariana chatted it up with Kate Chastain for the Love, Ariana Style panel at BravoCon 2025 on Friday, Nov. 14, showing off a stunning and sleek brunette look fans couldn’t get enough of. In fact, when one audience member asked how the new hair made her feel, Ariana said, “I feel more confident. I really feel like, ‘Wow, this is maybe something I should have done a long time ago.’”
Kate touched on Ariana wearing a darker-colored wig for Love Island USA, which Ariana said influenced her decision to go to the dark side with her color. “The wig definitely made me feel like, ‘Ok, if I did this for real, I might actually like it,’” Ariana said. “Because I’ve thought about it for a long time. But you never know until you actually do it.”
What’s more, Kate and Ariana played with the idea of new colors, agreeing that her new shade could be a “gateway” hue. As Ariana confessed, “I would love to go red. I was worried about being able to keep up with it, but I feel like one day I’ll definitely do that.”

Ariana’s changing styles on Love Island USA were something for Kate to marvel at. Ariana revealed the show’s looks aren’t an on-the-spot decision. “We start pretty early,” Ariana admitted. “Like right now, I’ll be sending Emily — my amazing friend and stylist — I’ll be sending her ideas that I see on Instagram, and I just get inspo, and I send her all the time.”

Then, a few weeks before fittings take place, Ariana’s stylist is ready. “I walk into her place and she just has racks and racks and racks and racks, and we’ll be there for hours.” Ariana continued. “And then we pack it all up in suitcases and ship it out there. And then once the hair and makeup comes together, it’s a vibe.”

Ariana revealed she only spends about three hours in the glam chair when filming Love Island USA. There, Ariana and her glam team get the opportunity to watch what happens at the villa on a monitor, but when something juicy goes down, glam has to be put on pause.

She said, “Sometimes, I’ll be like pretty much ready, and something’s going on in the villa, and we have to stop and wait to finish glam because somebody’s having an intense conversation, and we need to wait because, if we finish, then I’m gonna look like the crypt keeper by the time I go in by how much powder we’re doing.”
