Police shot and killed a man with a knife inside St. Louis Lambert International Airport early Friday morning.
St. Louis County Police said two airport police officers were on routine security checks in Terminal 1 just after 1 a.m. and encountered the man. He refused orders to drop the knife and was tased but “continued to advance towards officers.”
One of the officers fired, striking and killing the man, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
The two officers involved in the incident had been with the department for 6 months and year, both with prior law enforcement experience, the department said.
The dead man has not been publicly identified.
The airport temporarily closed the Metrolink station at Terminal 1, but it was reopened after 8 a.m.
