It appears Portia Umansky has taken makeup cues from her mom, Kyle Richards. Or, perhaps, it’s the other way around.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom touched on the topic during her December 2 Amazon Live stream, fully dedicated to skincare and glam. At one point during the broadcast, a viewer asked Kyle which of her four daughters had “the most similar makeup vibe” to hers.
“Hmmm. That’s a good question,” Kyle said. “Maybe Portia. I don’t know.”

Kyle — who is also mom to Farrah Brittany, Alexia Umansky, and Sophia Umansky — said her girls have distinct makeup techniques that suit their specific features.
“They have different-shaped eyes, so they do different things,” she said. “They’re really great with the [eyeliner] wings. I’m not great with the wings. I used to be. Maybe I’m just not as patient as I used to be.”

Kyle Richards was impressed by Portia Umansky’s contouring abilities
Although Kyle’s daughters have demonstrated solid makeup skills, the Beverly Hills Housewife was particularly impressed by Portia’s techniques. She confirmed this in a 2024 interview with People magazine, saying she was in awe of how well Portia could contour at an early age.
“I watch Portia do her contouring on the way to school, and I just can’t even believe what I’m seeing,” she told the outlet. “I mean, the amount of [contour] lines going all over her face… then I just do my regular routine, and I’m like, ‘Is it that different?’”
She continued: “Obviously, [at] that age, [she] is very much into learning everything on TikTok. So my morning drive to school every day is when I get all my updates on what the cool TikTok things are.”

Portia began dabbling in makeup years before she entered her teens. In 2018, Kyle revealed that her second-oldest daughter, Alexia, had allowed Portia to do her makeup for a celebratory occasion.

“[Alexia] let [Portia] do her makeup for her 21st birthday… She’s actually very good at it,” Kyle told People. “At first I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, what is she doing with the makeup?’ But for her, it really is like an art form. I love makeup, so I don’t think she had a chance not to. I bought her little things of makeup to play with; I give her all my stuff that I don’t really want anymore. She’s just not allowed to go out in public like that.”
Kyle Richards opens up about Portia Umansky’s college search
Portia is now preparing for her final semester of high school and fast-approaching college journey. The 17-year-old has toured multiple schools over the past year and was apparently eyeing schools outside of California.
“That’s been, you know, taking over the majority of our conversations,” Kyle told The Daily Dish about Portia’s college search. “Our dinner conversations are about which school she should apply to and what she’s going to write for her personal statement, and all the family weighing in on where she should apply, what’s the best state for her to move to that we could all visit all the time.”
Kyle admitted it was going to be “hard” when Portia “actually leaves” the nest, but was confident in her success.
“I know she’s very nervous about that, which also makes me feel anxious,” Kyle added. “But, you know, I’ve survived three times before, so hopefully, I’ll survive this time, too.”
