Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said Monday afternoon that the killer used a 9mm firearm, the Providence Journal said.
“What I can tell you is that this individual definitely targeted Brown University,” Perez said, although he did not indicate why investigators believe the school was targeted.
Officials are investigating claims that the murderer yelled something during the shooting, but those reports have not been confirmed. Perez also said, without explanation, that the IRS is assisting with the investigation.

One video released by police shows the person of interest about two hours before the shooting while another shows the man just after the shooting. Police had previously released another, poorer quality video.
