Kyle Richards explained her attempts to bring down the temperature between Dorit Kemsley and Paul “PK” Kemsley amid their contentious divorce on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

During Season 15, Episode 4, Dorit revealed to Kyle that she had sent her and PK’s two children, Jagger and Phoenix, to visit her parents in Florida, despite her estranged husband’s objections. “I don’t think you quite grasp how out of control PK is,” Dorit told her. “He’s out for blood. It’s like that, to me, is the hardest part.”

After Kyle began to reply how that didn’t even sound like the PK she knew, Dorit became upset that her friend seemed to “doubt” her. Kyle denied that it was the case, however, and apologized for not reacting in the way Dorit had expected her to, i.e., trash-talking PK.

In a confessional, Kyle explained why she thought it might be wise for Dorit to tone down how she talks about PK.

“I just don’t think it’s smart to be speaking so negatively about your ex so publicly,” Kyle told a producer. “It’s going to make your separation and divorce down the line much more difficult.”

A flashback to a few days earlier that rolled later on RHOBH‘s Jan. 8 episode showed Kyle making similar comments to Season 15 newcomer Amanda Frances.

“Even her just saying stuff about how he’s parenting and things like that, that worries me,” Kyle added, mentioning how PK had been “upset” by other public comments Dorit had made about him in the past. “It just makes me nervous that she’s adding fuel to the fire.”

Why Kyle Richards wants Dorit Kemsley to talk to Mauricio Umansky

Part of Kyle’s peacekeeping mission included bringing in a reinforcement, her estranged husband (and PK’s good friend) Mauricio Umansky, at Dorit’s request, to try to help mediate their conflict.

“Sometimes it takes a friend to say the hard things to make you listen,” Kyle told Dorit, before cautioning her, “Now, you have to remember, he’s coming from hearing only [PK’s] side. … Mau said, you know, like, ‘I’m hearing completely the opposite, that Dorit is putting him through a really hard time, making it hard for him to see the kids.”

Dorit, for her part, scoffed at PK’s supposed version of events, claiming that her ex “wants to fly in at a moment’s notice and see [their children] whenever he wants,” ignoring their established schedule and routine.

“Maybe I need to speak to Mau,” Dorit suggested. “I can actually tell Mau the truth and the reality.”

Kyle agreed, telling Dorit she “should call Mauricio,” adding, “You have to have a conversation with him. And I really hope that that’s gonna make a difference.”

The RHOBH cast weighs in on Dorit Kemsley’s comments about PK Kemsley

Elsewhere in Episode 4, Amanda similarly expressed concern to Sutton Stracke, Kathy Hilton, and Jennifer Tilly that Dorit’s candor might “end up affecting the divorce in some kind of negative way.”

She and the other ladies added even more thoughts on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show.

“All of us in co-parenting relationships absolutely have to work hard to preserve that relationship and not say things that can get back to that person,” Amanda elaborated. “Because it’s about the kids, really.”

She continued, “When I said yeah, she probably shouldn’t talk bad about him, that was a true opinion, that’s a real opinion, that’s a logical opinion. But I have to tell you that at that moment, the compassion was the way bigger part of me.”

Separately, Jennifer weighed in on the RHOBH After Show, saying, “Dorit is my friend. So, to say perhaps she shouldn’t be doing this, it’s myself… wanting to be protective of Dorit, because we don’t want her to say something she’s going to regret in the future.”

Sutton, for her part, opined, “I don’t think you should speak poorly of your children’s father. I’m not talking about, like, publicly or not. I just think it’s a great testament to who you are as a person if you can just not say anything. … It’s not helping you.”
