Ariz. man sentenced to life for killing pizza shop colleague over fixation on female co-worker

MESA, Ariz. (TCN) — A man convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his colleague will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Arizona’s Family reports Tyler McGuire, 31, was sentenced Jan. 27 for the fatal shooting of Deazo Seghi, then 22, on Dec. 11, 2023. Court documents obtained by KSAZ say McGuire was found guilty by a jury on Nov. 18, 2025, and was given a sentence of natural life in prison.

According to authorities, McGuire became fixated on a female employee in 2022 when he was a pizza shop supervisor. He reportedly confronted Seghi because he believed he was pursuing the same woman, Arizona’s Family reports.

McGuire purchased a mask and gun and tracked Seghi’s address, prosecutors said. On Dec. 11, 2023, McGuire shot Seghi multiple times as he sat in his car in front of the apartment complex where he lived.

He was booked into jail a few days later after being linked to the case based on multiple eyewitness accounts, Arizona’s Family reported at the time. Once detained, McGuire was found to have a handgun, and shell casings found at the scene matched the ones inside his gun. According to the outlet, McGuire used his cellphone to report the shooting.

According to prosecutors, several entries in McGuire’s journal detailed his plans to kill Seghi, Arizona’s Family reports. “I decided a while ago I needed to kill someone. This person hurt me,” one of the entries reportedly read.
