Chef assistant Elena “Ellie” Dubaich made a splash shortly after joining the M/Y Katina crew. During Below Deck Down Under Season 4, Episode 5, Ellie asked a very NSFW question that shocked her fellow yachties.
During her first night out with the crew, Ellie took control of the conversation: “Let’s get to know each other for real,” she said during the March 2 episode. “Ladies, this question is for you. How many squirters do we have on board?”
The ladies weren’t impressed with the question. While chief stew Daisy Kelliher stared in open-mouthed shock, stew Jenna Woudberg said, “I don’t know if I’m at the right table.”
Deckhand Betul Yazici was also put off. “We just got here. I wanna know about your experiences,” she told producers during the episode. “Where have you been? What were you doing? Where did you come from?”
During the Below Deck Down Under After Show, Ellie revealed her intention behind the non-traditional ice-breaker.
“You’re able to suss out what type of people you’re dealing with, you know? If people laugh, and they’re lighthearted about it, I feel like, ‘Okay, these are my people.’ Like, they know I’m just messing around. It’s not that serious,” she told producers. “But this group, they were all like clutching their pearls, like, ‘Oh my god, squirting, what!? … They were not matching my vibe.”

Matching Ellie’s flirtatious aura, deck/stew Mike Durrant decided to pursue her.
“I think you are a very pretty girl,” he said to her during Below Deck Down Under‘s March 2 episode. “You are very good-looking.”
“You’re very good-looking yourself,” Ellie responded.
As Mike asked her if she wanted “to have some fun,” he kissed her — but Ellie quickly pulled away.
“All you get is a peck!” she joked, before they shared another quick kiss.
“I’m in no rush,” Mike declared.
Mike divulged more about the steamy evening during the After Show. “ I just felt like, I’m going to try it on with this girl,” he explained. “I’ll be respectful. If I thought to myself, ‘You know what, I’ve crossed a boundary,’ I’ll apologize. But you know what, at the same time, I felt like Ellie was giving me a little of that back. Let’s just go in for the kiss.”
Ellie agreed that “there was some chemistry that night,” though she said she was glad she didn’t join most of the crew later on in the hot tub. “If I stayed, I might have ended up in bed with Mike,” she admitted. “Mike is a good-looking guy, but I kind of see him like a teenager, you know? I don’t see him as an adult.”

In fact, it was another crew member who caught Ellie’s eye. She previously admitted on the After Show that second officer João Franco was her “type, to a T.”

“My type of guy is big muscle, a Viking, manly man. Basically, João,” she said. “There’s a primal part of my brain that wants to merge genetics with João.”
Still, she admitted she’s not one to make the first move. “I’m still liking João, but I’m not a person that pursues men,” she explained. “I like a hunt. You know, somebody who’s a hunter. I don’t like gatherers.”
