Accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann allegedly had “significant contacts” with at least 60 sex workers prior to his 2023 arrest.

According to a motion filed by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, 63-year-old Heuermann reached out to the workers through Tindr, after allegedly creating fake accounts with the names “Andrew Roberts” and “Thomas Hawk.”

Investigators also obtained Heuermann’s search history, which showed “images of bruised and impaled women” and “hardcore violent pornography,” CBS News reports.

The defendant also searched for “mourning the deceased,” Long Island’s News 12 reports.

The prosecution stated that the evidence confirmed that Heuermann is a sexual sadist.

“These show an absence of mistake, that he was using and making these calls, and learning about how to torture people in order to perform these acts upon his victims. So the prosecution’s argument is that these are relevant acts,” former prosecutor Vinoo Varghese told CBS News.

“It is also very likely that the prosecution feels that they have an extremely very strong case and are not offering anything short of life in prison.”

In July 2023, police arrested Heuermann in Manhattan for the 2009 and 2010 murders of Melissa Barthelemy, 24; Megan Waterman, 22; and Amber Lynn Costello, 27, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

In January 2024, he was charged with Maureen Brainard-Barnes’ murder.

Officials said Brainard-Barnes and the three other victims were found wrapped in burlap and buried near each other at New York’s Gilgo Beach. All four women were reportedly advertising as sex workers when they vanished.

In June 2024, Heuermann was charged with the murders of Sandra Costilla and Jessica Taylor. In December 2024, he was indicted for the murder of Valerie Mack.

Heuermann’s trial is scheduled to begin after Labor Day.
